Sacrifice

‪Sacrifice‬

‪The giant flower‬
Sprang to life
Quickly towering
Over the garden
Rising closer
Reaching, striving for
The sun! Absorbing,
With glorious hubris,
Light from the sky.
The bright flower
Stood with prideful
Color silently singing
Above the garden.
To its surprise
An enormous shadow
Swooped down
Shielding other plants
& fellow flowers from
Rays of heaven.
Life below began
To decay & fold away.
The giant flower,
Horrified by inadvertent
Display of destruction
Produced through apathy,
Oblivious ignorance,
& self-absorbed desire,
Redacted its powerful
Petals & sepals
Contracting leaves
Disarming its pistil
Transforming into
A crouching peduncle
Slowly fading
Deep into the soil
Nurturing the weak
Allowing the broken
To plant roots
To rise up
Revealing the Son
To a lost garden.
